-

Standard Chartered’s Five-a-side Futsal Football Tournament - the Standard Chartered Cup 2016 - will kick-off on Sunday (16) at Campbell Park.

A total of 24 teams from leading organisations as well as Standard Chartered’s own staff teams will be in action and will vie for the opportunity not only to raise aloft the tournament trophy but also to travel to Anfield, UK to watch the Liverpool Football Club (LFC) in action at a Premier League match.

Sanjeewani de Silva, Head of Corporate Affairs/brand and Marketing, Standard Chartered commented: “Last year we presented a similar ‘money can’t buy’ opportunity for participants to win a chance at visiting a Premier League pitch and viewing a game. The opportunity is made possible by the main sponsor agreement between Standard Chartered and Liverpool Football Club. Standard Chartered and Liverpool FC have used their partnership to support a number of the Bank’s awardwinning sustainability and community investment programmes, and the sponsorship has enabled the Bank to connect with clients and staff around the world, through money-can’t-buy opportunities such as the one on offer.”

Teams participating include MAS Intimates, KPMG, MAS Active, MAS Linea Aqua, WNS, Aitken Spence, Hemas, John Keells, Emirates Airlines, Hela Clothing, Shangrila, Dialog, Accenture, and Courtaulds Trading Company, as well as teams from Standard Chartered.

The 24 teams will be split into four groups of six teams each.

The games will be played in a round-robin format and the winners of each group will qualify for the semi-finals. The overall winning team will travel to Anfield later this year as part of their prize.
