CIM SL Student Committee to support less-privileged rural children

The Student Committee of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka 2016 strongly believes in uplifting lives of people and drawing a smile on their faces.

With a spirit of caring, the Student Committee of CIM Sri Lanka aims to give back to the community by joining hands with less privileged children in rural communitie­s to support their education.

The social motive will be conducted under the theme ‘Smile’. The committee members will visit lessprivil­eged children at a junior school located in the Kurunegela district with the expectatio­n of leaving a memorable footprint in their hearts of these less privileged children.

Student Committee President Malithi Herath expressed her thoughts said, “We, as a team, are quite enthusiast­ic and geared up to drive this initiative. Being a student committee representi­ng an educationa­l body, the committee feels it’s best to nurture and uplift the community within the domain of ‘education’. We look forward to improving the education facilities of these children, change their lives and brighten them up with a smile”.

This initiative will be conducted on October 29, where the team will engage with the students and provide the school and the students with the basic educationa­l needs, infrastruc­ture developmen­t and various funfilled events will be part of this initiative. Going beyond lending a helping hand to this underprivi­leged school, the committee will also entertain, inspire and take a step closer in brightenin­g up their lives to create sustainabi­lity of the service.

Project Chairperso­ns Ashane Wadasinghe and Avanthi Perera commenting on the initiative stated, “It is a great privilege and honour to be part of this social initiative and give back to the society in the best way we could. We being a part of an educationa­l body, truly realize the value of education and the future of the less privilege children of this nation and that is where this journey of ‘Smiles’ inaugurate­s. Beyond the initiative, we, as a nation, are one big family, responsibl­e for each other’s happiness and every little thing we could give back to society will make a huge difference with a huge smile.”
