Vijaya Ramanayake’s funeral on Saturday

Sri Lanka’s pioneer cassette and movie producer Tharanga International Chief Vijaya Ramanayake passed away recently.

His funeral will take place at the Borella Cemetery at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday). His remains now lie at the Jayaratne Funeral Parlour in Borella. Vijaya Ramanayake who started his career as a journalist at Lake House, made the pioneering move to introduce cassettes to Sri Lanka in 1978 under the Tharanga label. He made contributions to the production of award-winning movies like Aradhana, Kaliyugaya, Yuganthaya and Maldeniye Simon.
