Cargills (Ceylon) PLC, the principle sponsor of the Sri Lankan Men’s National Football team and the exclusive partner of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) is supporting the Men’s national team taking part in the AFC Solidarity Cup to be held in Malaysia.

Sporting the tag line “Partnering the future of Sri Lanka Football” Cargills joined hands with FFSL in 2013 and is the Principle sponsor of the Blue Ribbon tourney Cargills Foodcity FA CUP Championsh­ip where over 600 teams will participat­e on a yearly basis in the country’s largest knockout tournament as well as the Kotmale U19 Schools Football Championsh­ip where 28 schools come together to compete and show skills of supremacy.

The Sri Lankan Men’s National Football team left the country on Octomber 31, 2016 to Malaysia. to take part in the first edition of the AFC Solidarity cup. In contrast to the squad that flew to Cambodia for the FIFA Internatio­nal friendly match, there will be six new faces in the team. Mohamed Afam, Dilip Peris and S. Gnanaruban have been dropped from the squad due to injuries and the new squad will consist of 23 players, four more than the squad that flew to Cambodia. The additions to the squad are Supun Kaveesh (New Youngs SC), Sajith Kumara (Army SC), Afeel Mohammed (Colombo FC), Roshan Appuhami (Army SC), Madushan De Silva (SL Army) and S. Niresh (Saunders SC).
