President’s Gold Cup VB finals today

Katana Combined SC will take on Debagama Ran Tharu SC in the Dialog President’s Gold Cup Open Men’s Volleyball Tournament final at the National Youth Services Council (NYSC) Indoor Stadium in Maharagama today (7) commencing at 3.00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Koswadiya Wijeya SC and Casualline SC, Mawathagama will clash in the Women’s final commencing at 1.00 p.m.

In addition, Ruwanwella Rajasinghe SC will confront Davisamara SC, Seeduwa in the Men’s Under-22 Tournament final commencing at 10.00 a.m.

Before that Eheliyagoda Dharmapala SC will meet Casualline SC Mawathagama in the Women’s Under22 Tournament final commencing at 8.00 a.m.

The winners of the Under22 Men’s and Women’s winning teams will receive Rs. 100,000 each.the runners-up will receive Rs.50,000 and the third placed team will receive Rs. 25,000.

The Open Men’s and Women’s winners will receive Rs. 150,000 each and the runners-up will receive Rs.100,000. Over 4,500 teams participated in this tournament at District level and the champion and the runners-up of each District were selected to play in the final round.

The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVF) has also made arrangements to celebrate 100 years of volleyball in Sri Lanka under the patronage of its President Erandika Weliange and the Executive Committee with President Maithripala Sirisena as the Chief Guest.

A special stamp worth Rs. 10 will be issued to mark the occasion and a stature of a volleyball player will be ceremonially unveiled.
