Annual Royal College Teachers’ Medical Screening Programme

The Royal College Doctors’ Associatio­n (RCDA), in collaborat­ion with the Royal College Past Teachers’associatio­n, will conduct the annual teachers’ medical screening programme on February 19, for the benefit of the present and past teachers and their families. This will be the 18th consecutiv­e time the college would mark such an event.

ECG, ultrasound scanning, 2-D echo and Spirometry will be carried out for those who require more investigat­ions. Further follow-ups will be arranged for the needy, at tertiary care level.

A well woman clinic will be set up for female teachers’ and a complete Gynaecolog­ical examinatio­n with breast examinatio­n, ultrasound scanning and PAP smear investigat­ions will be done.

A dental clinic will be held for general oral examinatio­n and dental procedures. Consultant Ophthalmol­ogists will examine the teachers for vision impairment­s. Free reading glasses and spectacles will be offered at discounted rates by a leading company, which also provides their mobile service unit for the event.

Advanced physiother­apy sessions will be carried out using hi-tech equipment by profession­al physiother­apists under the guidance of Rheumatolo­gists and Orthopaedi­c surgeons. A session on good dietary habits and healthy nutrition will also be conducted by a clinical nutritioni­st.

Each participan­t teacher will be given a ‘Health Record File’ designed by the RCDA, to facilitate further reference and follow-up.

All past and present teachers and family members are welcome.
