Annual Royal College Teachers’ Medical Screening Programme
The Royal College Doctors’ Association (RCDA), in collaboration with the Royal College Past Teachers’association, will conduct the annual teachers’ medical screening programme on February 19, for the benefit of the present and past teachers and their families. This will be the 18th consecutive time the college would mark such an event.
ECG, ultrasound scanning, 2-D echo and Spirometry will be carried out for those who require more investigations. Further follow-ups will be arranged for the needy, at tertiary care level.
A well woman clinic will be set up for female teachers’ and a complete Gynaecological examination with breast examination, ultrasound scanning and PAP smear investigations will be done.
A dental clinic will be held for general oral examination and dental procedures. Consultant Ophthalmologists will examine the teachers for vision impairments. Free reading glasses and spectacles will be offered at discounted rates by a leading company, which also provides their mobile service unit for the event.
Advanced physiotherapy sessions will be carried out using hi-tech equipment by professional physiotherapists under the guidance of Rheumatologists and Orthopaedic surgeons. A session on good dietary habits and healthy nutrition will also be conducted by a clinical nutritionist.
Each participant teacher will be given a ‘Health Record File’ designed by the RCDA, to facilitate further reference and follow-up.
