Not nervous in 90s: Jayaramaiah
Blind T20 Cricket World Cup
Ninety nine has proved to be a lucky figure for India’s blind cricketer Prakash Jayaramaiah.
He remained not out on 99 in the Blind Cricket World Cup final which India won against Pakistan on Sunday (12) at Bangalore.
“I have no regrets on being not able to register a hundred. India’s victory was more important than my century,” Prakash said after receiving the Man of the Match award and the Man of the Series award.
“I don’t consider 90s to be a nervous figure. In this tournament I scored 96, 99, 99, 115 and 99. 90s, on the contrary have proved to be my favourite figures,” he added.
Jayaramaiah, the B-3 category player from Karnataka, won the Man of the Match (Rs. 10,000) and the Man of the Series (Rs. 25,000) awards.
Considering the amount the senior men’s cricket team receive, this sounds to be peanuts but the player has chosen it to be distributed with his teammates.
“All prize money won collectively and individually will be shared among the players,” he added.
“There were some pressure playing against Pakistan. The Pakistan Team was really good and strong but the Indian Team was lucky to beat Pakistan.”
There were significant contributions from the current ViceCaptain. This was his second T20 World Cup. He has also played one ODI World Cup for the country.
“Our coach is not in favour of late night party. But yes, this time it will be an exception. All of us are so excited and happy with this victory and celebrations will surely be there,” he signed off.
The India Blind Cricket Team was sponsored by Indusind Bank.
