‘Govt. has failed to fulfil even 50pc of UNHRC conditions’
The Minister of National co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages Mano Ganesan charged that more than 50 per cent of the conditions laid down by the United Nations Human Rights Council could not be fulfilled due to the mismanagement of the government.
He said further that the government had failed to establish an Office on Missing Persons (OMP) even after adopting the relevant law in Parliament, to pay compensation on behalf of the people missing during the war and to resettle the displaced people, although they could be easily fulfilled. The Ministry for Re-settlement had collapsed and handing over ministries to inefficient persons has led to a situation where finding a solution to the problems has become impossible, he said.
The mismanagement of the government would lead to its disrepute in the international arena and it could have to face serious repercussions, he said.
