Nadeesha and Dinuka emerge champions

Nadeesha Gayanthi and Dinuka Karunaratne of Hatton National Bank emerged Women’s and Men’s Singles champions in the Open event of the Lanka Super League Badminton Championship of the Bankers 2017 tournament organised by the Seylan Bank Sports Club and held at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

Results (finals): Women’s Open - Nadeesha Gayanthi (HNB) beat Chandrika de Silva (Seylan) 17/21, 21/19, 21/19.

Men’s Open - Dinuka Karunaratne (HNB) beat Lakshan Silva (HNB) 21/8, 21/11. Over-40 Men’s Singles: Sanka Illeperumaarachchi (HNB) beat M. Jayaweera (Seylan) 21/15, 21/18.

Over-45 Men’s Singles: P.abeysekera (HNB) beat P. Samaradiwakara (HNB) 22/20, 21/19. Mixed Doubles - Dinuka Karunaratne and Nadeesha Gayanthi (HNB) beat Chandrika de Silva and T. Bentharage (Seylan) 21/6, 21/10. Over-40 Men’s Doubles - M. Crusz and N. Ranasinghe (Commercial Bank) beat L. Fonseka and S. Illeperumaarachchi 15/12, 21/11, 22/0.
