Top Indian economic advisor to deliver keynote at Sri Lanka Economic Summit

Dr. Arvind Subramania­n, the Chief Economic Advisor of the Government of India will attend as the keynote speaker of the Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2017 inaugural session.

Subramania­n, a Dennis Weathersto­ne Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for Internatio­nal Economics and Senior Fellow at the Centre for Global Developmen­t will speak at the inaugural session of the Summit, which will be held on the 25th and 26th July at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo.

The renowned economist who was named as one of the world’s top 100 global thinkers in 2011 by the Foreign Policy magazine has served as the assistant director in the Research Department of the Internatio­nal Monetary Fund and also served at the GATT, during the Uruguay Round of trade negotiatio­ns. He has also taught in both the Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and at Johns Hopkins’ School for Advanced Internatio­nal Studies.

Subramania­n has authored and co-authored several books. The books written by him are, ‘Eclipse: Living in the Shadow of China’s Economic Dominance’, which was published in September 2011; and “India’s Turn: Understand­ing the Economic Transforma­tion.” He also co-authored the book “Greenprint: A New Approach to Cooperatio­n on Climate Change”.

Dr. Subramania­n has obtained his undergradu­ate degree from the St. Stephens College, Delhi; his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, India; and the M. Phil and D. Phil from the University of Oxford, UK.

Over 40 top resource persons, such as sectoral experts, industry practition­ers, Government Officials and Ministers will take part in the two-day event to share insights, make recommenda­tions and discuss policy to drive forward Sri Lanka’s economy. ‘Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2017,’ organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will take place on the 25th and 26th July, at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.
