Lanka Special Steels clinches Gold at NCQP

Lanka Special Steels Ltd., a subsidiary of E. B. Creasy & Co. PLC, was adjudged Gold Award winner in the National Convention on Quality and Productivity 2017, held at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute recently.

A total of 78 teams participated in the convention representing various reputed companies from all over the island. Lanka Special Steels’ Team Awanetha won a Gold award with their effective presentation and teamwork.

The award was presented by President. Maithripala Sirisena at the event organized by Sri Lanka Association for Advancement of Quality and Productivity.

Team Coordinator Nilesh Mahindre said, “Lanka Special Steels has a good track record participating in conventions both locally and internationally over the last six years. This is due to the strong encouragement from the management to implement good practices of employee engagement and in motivating the workforce to bring improvement in the organization.”

Team Awanetha’s Facilitator and Leader Madhusanka Rajakaruna said, “the team gained invaluable knowledge about quality tools and how to use them effectively to improve projects in their respective departments and shows considerable improvements. So we at LSSL are extremely proud and honored to receive this prestigious award which further affirms our excellent relationship with customers that is based on close collaboration, high responsiveness and pro-activity.”

The Chief Operating Officer Mr. Pravin De Silva with his encouragement and support for motivation helped the staff to learn and implement process improvements in productivity, safety, quality through Reward and Recognition Scheme.

LSSL which was earlier known as a company of Tata Steel Ltd is now a fully owned subsidiary of E. B. Creasy & Co., PLC after the acquisition in 2015.
