Bond scam Commission term extended

The Gazette notificati­on extending the term of the Presidenti­al Commission to investigat­e and inquire into the Issuance of Treasury Bonds by three months was issued by the Presidenti­al Secretaria­t, sources at the Government Printer said.

They said the Government had decided to issue an extraordin­ary gazette notificati­on in this regard.

According to the Presidenti­al Secretaria­t it said the President had further enlarged the time by three months to submit the report of the Issuance of Treasury Bonds from July27, 2017 to October 27, 2017.

“It is hereby notified that in terms of Section 4 of the Commission of Inquiry Act (Chapter 393), His Excellency Maithripal­a Sirisena, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, has further enlarged the time by three months from 27th July, 2017 up to 27th October, 2017 having enlarged the period ending 27th April, 2017 by three months up to 27th July, 2017 in the exercise of powers vested in him by Section 4 of the said Act for rendition of the final report of the Commission establishe­d under Section 2 thereof, on 27th January, 2017 by Notificati­on published in the Gazette Extraordin­ary No. 2003/41 dated 27th January, 2017 of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to investigat­e, inquire into and report on the Issuance of Treasury Bonds during the period 01st February, 2015 to 31st March, 2016 on completion of the aforesaid tasks,” it said.
