Vijaya College Matale advances to second round

Singer Trophy SLSCA U15 Division II Inter School Cricket Tournament 2017

Vijaya College, Matale advanced to the second round of the ongoing Singer Trophy SLSCA Under 15 Division II Inter School Cricket Tournament 2017 when they ended the preliminary round stage with four first-innings wins and a no-decision from the five matches they played.

They recorded a close three-run win over Azar Central, Akurana, a four-run win over Galagedara MMV, a 38-run victory against Sri Sumangala College, Kandy and a 94-run win over Kekirawa Central with the match against Pannala National School ending in a no-decision.

The only batsman to shine with an impressive half-century during the first round was Akid Jaleel (54) against Sri Sumangala, Kandy while spin duo S. Waduwedeniya (10/46) and Ashen Witharana (15/98) and right arm pacer Kasun Kodithuwakku (13/85) were the most successful bowlers who ended the first round claiming over ten wickets each.
