PC Elections Amendment Bill presented in P’ment

The government on Wednesday presented the Provincial Councils Elections Amendment Bill, which makes it mandatory for political parties to ensure that 30 per cent of the candidates nominated for elections to provincial councils are women.

Nomination lists which do not include the specified number of female candidates under Section 10 of the Bill is likely to be rejected.
