Corruption case against Minister Fowzie
Colombo Chief Magistrate court yesterday postponed for November 23 the case against National Integration and Reconciliation State Minister A. H. M. Fowzie for allegedly causing a loss of Rs.1.07 million to the government by misusing a vehicle belonging to the Disaster Management Center.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala who acted on behalf of the permanent Magistrate while postponing the case ordered two witnesses to be present in court on the next date of the case.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed the case before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara alleging that Minister Fowzie had unlawfully utilized for his personal use a Land Cruiser Jeep estimated at Rs.19.5 million belonging to the Disaster Management Centre during 2010 and 2015 while being a Senior Minister in the previous regime.
Minister Fowzie was charged under Section 70 of the Bribery Act on four counts.
