National guidelines for Daycare Centres
Cabinet has given the green light to prepare National Guidelines for Day Care Centres in Sri Lanka according to a proposal made by Women and Child Affairs Minister Chandrani Bandara.
Cabinet Spokesman, Lands and Parliamentary Reforms Minister Gayantha Karunatilaka on Wednesday said there is an increasing demand for day care centres as the number of employed women are escalating and a regulatory mechanism is required in this regard. Accordingly, the above guidelines will be prepared after seeking opinion of all parties and experts and these guidelines will be implemented under provincial Departments of Probation and Child Protection.
The guidelines will be in operation under the supervision of the ministries of National Policies and Economic Affairs, and Women and Child Affairs, Minister Karunatilaka added.
