MINOR FLOOD SITUATION LOOMING
NBRO has issued landslide warnings to residents in three districts
A minor flood situation has been reported from two districts in the country, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said yesterday and requested people to be vigilant and take precautions in case of another possible natural disaster in the country.

Meanwhile, our correspondents in the North said a gale force wind, which struck Mullaitivu on Monday night, damaged several houses and trees falling across roads bringing vehicular transport on the Mullaitivuthandikulum Road to a standstill.
The DMC warned those living in the vicinity of mountain slopes and along river banks to be vigilant.
The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) issued landslide warnings in Nagoda and Yatalamatta in the Galle District and Ambagamuwa and Ginigathhena in the Nuwara Eliya District.
DMC Director Media Pradeep Kodippily said people should be on alert because more rains could trigger landslides and added that water levels in major rivers such as Kelani Ganga, Kalu Ganga, Kukele Ganga and Attanagaluoya were rising.
Many areas in the country had received a rainfall of more than 100 mm as of yesterday with some areas in the Ratnapura, Galle, Kalutara and Kegalle districts receiving a rainfall of more than 100 mm last afternoon.
