IFS celebrates 20 years in Sri Lanka

At a media briefing held on the 10th November at Cinnamon Grand, Colombo – the company elucidated of its significan­t milestones to the distinguis­hed gathering.

The panelists highlighte­d on the unparallel­ed innovation, dynamic R&D capabiliti­es and outstandin­g organizati­onal culture that has made IFS standout from its inception.

IFS counts over 120 of Sri Lanka’s top companies as customers of its enterprise software. These customers use IFS solutions to manufactur­e and distribute goods, maintain assets, and manage service-focused operations.

The industry expertise of IFS’S people and solutions, together with its commitment to customers, has made the company a recognized leader and the most recommende­d supplier in the sector.

The IFS team in Sri Lanka has been key to IFS’S global success, which per the company’s Q3 2017 financial results, shows year-todate licence growth up 18 percent. Key global initiative­s like the IFS Academy (training and certificat­ion), IFS Labs (innovation), global support center as well as important aspects of product developmen­t are all run from the company’s Sri Lankan offices.

Alastair Sorbie, CEO at IFS, commented: “Consistent and stable growth has been the secret to our success around the world, which would not have been possible if IFS could not attract and retain top talent. Also speaking at the event, Jayantha De Silva, President and CEO IFS Sri Lanka explained how IFS operations in Sri Lanka have expanded over the last two decades.

Jayantha said, “We are now a complete resource centre catering globally and have achieved significan­t milestones within the ICT industry as we celebrate two decades of excellence. We can say we are different in many ways. The experience and knowledge together have stretched us to diversifie­d avenues. The Sales and Consulting unit for IFS in South Asia operates from its Colombo office and markets, implements and supports IFS Applicatio­ns in companies within the South Asian region. The company currently supports more than 120 companies across Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, Seychelles, and Uganda. We ensure that our customers have a trouble free experience, a vital element in our relationsh­ip with our customers.”

Jayantha also stated “IFS has been a key player in driving the IT/ BPO industry in Sri Lankatowar­ds building capacity. We pioneered many innovative concepts in the industry and initiated concepts such as the ‘scholarshi­p scheme’ offered to A/L students with the objective of supporting the industry build capacity. To date over 300 scholarshi­ps have been awarded and it has now become an industry standard.”

“We will continue to expand our scholarshi­p program while working closely with major universiti­es to develop our future generation, encouragin­g them to be a part of this dynamic industry. I consider it a vital contributo­r towards ensuring this knowledge based industry in Sri Lanka reaches its full potential”.
