Don’t criticise the President: PM tells UNP MPS
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is reported to have told the government’s parliamentary group meeting on Monday that he had instructed the UNP MPS to refrain from criticizing President Maithripala Sirisena.
He said this in the wake of State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe allegedly criticising President Sirisena during a news conference last week.
The Prime Minister said it was not an easy task for the two main parties to work together and in the process problems were bound to arise.
“Should there be any problem, these could be discussed with the General Secretary and the Party Chairman who would handle any thorny issues,” he said.
