Dinesh says Salawa explosion not an accident

Calls on govt. to present investigat­ion report in Parliament

Joint opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardan­e yesterday called on the government to present in parliament the report of the investigat­ion to ascertain the cause of the fire that took place at the Salawa army camp, which, he claimed, was not an accident.

He told parliament that it was not an accident and urged the government to reveal what actually caused it.

“This was not an accident. The government should present the report on the investigat­ion carried out to ascertain the cause of the fire to Parliament.

People should know how it occurred,” he said.

area would be developed as a new city, it had not been done as yet. Speaking on the labour ministry, Mr. Gunawardan­e urged the labour minister to withdraw the budget proposal to amend the Shop and Office Act claiming that it would put the jobs of many in danger. He said the move would deprive many of rights that they had won after a long struggle.
