Calls on govt. to present investigation report in Parliament

Joint opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardane yesterday called on the government to present in parliament the report of the investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire that took place at the Salawa army camp, which, he claimed, was not an accident.

He told parliament that it was not an accident and urged the government to reveal what actually caused it.

“This was not an accident. The government should present the report on the investigation carried out to ascertain the cause of the fire to Parliament.

People should know how it occurred,” he said.

Speaking on the labour ministry, Mr. Gunawardane urged the labour minister to withdraw the budget proposal to amend the Shop and Office Act claiming that it would put the jobs of many in danger. He said the move would deprive many of rights that they had won after a long struggle.
