Maha Sangha to protest if Gotabaya arrested

The entire Maha Sangha and civil society would rally together to resist if Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is arrested, Ven Medagoda Abayathissa Thera said yesterday.

Addressing the media conference, he said that since the past several attempts to arrest Gotabhaya had been unsuccessful, the revenge had come to a climax with the move to arrest him this time regardless of the service he had rendered to end the war.

“Gotabhaya being a national asset in Sri Lanka is going to be arrested. How can the government do it? It is apparent that the government wants to get rid of Gotobhaya considering the fact that he would become a challenge to the political journey of this regime,” Abayathissa Thera said. He further said that the attempts to arrest Gotabhaya for no reason would be a huge blow to the entire Army and added that the general public would definitely show their dislike towards the arrest of Gotabhaya.
