Petrol mixed with kerosene found in Naula Co-op filling station
Investigations launched by CPC and Co-op society
Five days after the detection of petrol mixed with kerosene in the underground tanks at the filling station that belonged to the Naula co-operative society in the Matale District, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) removed the oil in question from the filling station yesterday.
The problem in petrol issued by the Naula filling station was that it first came to light last Thursday following which the issuing of petrol was suspended as the investigations carried out by the CPC confirmed the allegation of impurity of petrol in the underground tank in question..
Accordingly, officials of the Kandy branch of the CPC took steps to empty the tank and send 6,500 litres of oil in it for further investigation.
Chairman of the Naula co-operative society D.M. Jayarathna Dissanayake said that action would be taken against anybody attached to the society if they are found guilty after the investigation carried out by the co-operative society.
He stated that footage captured by the CCTV cameras of the filling station will be used in the investigation to ascertain whether anybody attached to the filling station had been involved in the offence.
