If we are to eradicate poverty in Sri Lanka, we need to develop family-based development plans which should be monitored by development officers, Grama Niladhari, Samurdhi Niladhari and agricultural officers, Minister of Social Empowerment, Welfare and Kandyan Heritage S.b.dissanayake said.

Speaking at a meeting of the Sri Lanka Nuwara Eliya District Development Officers’ Association, Madanwala, Hanguranketha, the minister also said that the President is keen to provide government jobs for graduates. He knows of the advantage of graduates as they are intellectuals and the cream of Sri Lanka. We need to get the support from those who have the courage, knowledge and capability to eradicate poverty from this small country. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party is keen to grasp them as resources to cater to the people.
