NCC organises seminar on anti-dumping law
The National Chamber of Commerce (NCC) in collaboration with the Commerce Department will hold a one-day awareness seminar on the anti-dumping law recently passed by the government.
The seminar will be on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the chamber auditorium, No: 450, D R Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10.
The long-awaited act will greatly benefit the business community to safeguard themselves against the imports that enter the country under unfair trade practices and protect themselves from unlawful and cheap imports coming into the country by proper legislation and safety measures. The seminar will explain how the anti-dumping and countervailing measures be implemented and practised. Commerce Director General Sonali Wijeratne will grace the occasion as a special guest, accompanied by senior officials from the Commerce Department, who will give presentations on various segments covering the Anti Dumping Act and Countervailing Duties. Under this law, the Commerce Department will be empowered to initiate investigations relating to unfair business practices and take safety measures against the unlawful surge of imports into the country. Additionally, state counsels from the Attorney General’s Department will give presentations on the legal aspects of this law and other activities involved in this process. There will be a Q&A session at the seminar.
