JVP requests Govt. to clarify its position on NFH

- BY YOHAN PERERA

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) yesterday questioned on the plan to sell Neville Fernando Hospital (NFH) in Malabe which was recently acquired by the government.

The question was raised by JVP MP Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa in Parliament last afternoon.

State Minister of Higher Education Mohanlal Grero who responded said that the supplementary question raised by the MP was irrelevant with the original oral question.

Meanwhile State Minister Grero justified the move by the government to set two credit passes and one simple pass at the G.C.E. advanced level examination to enter into medical studies.“I have seen those who get ‘A’s at advanced level exam committing serious offenses when they become doctors. One can pass advanced level exam with three A’s but there is no way to measure his or her personal intelligence. Qualities such as personal intelligence is essential for a person to become a successful medical practitioner “he said.

It is important to set a fair qualification to enter into medical studies when there is minimum qualification to become a Gardner in Parliament.

Dr. Jayatissa said it is important to set a fair qualification to enter into medical studies when there is minimum qualification to become a Gardner in Parliament.
