CSE to host Global Reporting Initiative workshop on sustainabi­lity reporting and CSR

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in collaborat­ion with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) will host a workshop on sustainabi­lity reporting and corporate social responsibi­lity on April 5, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at The Kingsbury Hotel.

The event, which will be exclusive to the representa­tives of the companies listed on the CSE, will address the business case for adopting sustainabl­e business practices in listed entities and provide insight into monitoring, managing and communicat­ing sustainabi­lityrelate­d performanc­e effectivel­y.

The listed companies are welcome to nominate up to two representa­tives to attend the workshop, ideally those that have a direct involvemen­t with the organisati­on’s sustainabi­lity initiative­s.

Nomination­s could be made via email to chamikat@cse.lk on or before Monday, March 26, 2018.

The participan­ts have the opportunit­y to learn why and how organisati­ons of all types and sizes prepare sustainabi­lity reports while discoverin­g the GRI and how the reporting framework can help manage economic, environmen­tal and governance impacts responsibl­y.

The GRI Sustainabi­lity Reporting Standards happens to be the first and most widely adopted global standards for sustainabi­lity reporting. The practice of disclosing sustainabi­lity informatio­n inspires accountabi­lity, helps identify and manage risks and enables organisati­ons to seize new opportunit­ies.

In a related developmen­t, the CSE also recently launched a publicatio­n titled ‘Communicat­ing Sustainabi­lity: Six Recommenda­tions for Listed Companies’, to assist the listed companies in addressing environmen­tal, social and governance factors in their capital market communicat­ion.
