KOTTE MC EX-MAYOR CONTESTS IN SC ALLOCATION OF MEMBERS IN LG POLLS

Petitioner Ranawaka Arachchige Don Janaka of UPFA in his petition cited Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya,members of the Commission,provincial Councils & Local Government Minister Faiszer Musthapha and others as Respondents.

He disputes the calculation of the members to be returned to the Council under the new system.

He is asking the Court to issue Interim Order preventing the Respondents from conducting or participating in the inaugural meeting of the Sri Jayewardenapura Kotte Municipal Council and in the election of the Mayor until the final determination of his application. He is seeking the Court to quash the decision in determining the total number of members and determining the allocation of members to political parties.
