MAHINDANANDA ARRESTED GIVEN BAIL AND REMANDED
UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage was yesterday arrested by the FCID over allegations of misappropriating Rs.39 million in government funds to buy Carrom and Checker boards in 2014. He was later produced in court and granted bail but was remanded when he was unable to fulfil the bail conditions.
Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said Mr. Aluthgamage was arrested when he reported to the FICD to give a statement on this matter and was later produced in the Fort Magistrate’s Court. He was remanded when he was unable to fulfil the bail conditions.
The MP is also under a travel ban imposed by Court over this allegation. The FCID also recently arrested Sathosa’s former chairman K. Nalin Ruwanjeeva Fernando at the Airport when he attempted to flee the country. He also faces similar charges.
