Hus­band found hang­ing from a tree

The Tan­galle Po­lice re­cov­ered the bodies of a woman who had been hacked to death and of her hus­band hang­ing from a tree in Ku­dawella. They were par­ents of a child, po­lice said.

They said the body of the woman, iden­ti­fied as D. Chi­ranga Imal­sha (22), was found from a house at Ku­dawella and that of her hus­band, Y.G. Darshana (26), hang­ing from a tree a lit­tle dis­tant from the house.

Po­lice said sev­eral stab in­juries were ob­served in the face and an in­cise wound in the neck of the woman. In­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that she had been alone in the house at the time of the mur­der.

said the cir­cum­stances that led to the in­ci­dent were yet to be es­tab­lished.

Tan­galle Act­ing Mag­is­trate Ran­jith Gu­nasekara who vis­ited the scene and held the pre­lim­i­nary mag­is­te­rial in­quiry or­dered the po­lice to re­fer the bodies for post­mortem ex­am­i­na­tion.
