Navy bids fond farewell to Rear Ad­mi­ral Ni­mal Sarath­sena

Rear Ad­mi­ral Ni­mal Sarath­sena, who pre­vi­ously held of­fice as Com­man­der Eastern Naval Area, on April 12 bade farewell to his 34-year-long il­lus­tri­ous naval ca­reer.

Navy Com­man­der Vice Ad­mi­ral Sir­imevan Ranas­inghe ex­tended best wishes to the re­tir­ing of­fi­cer be­fore he was ac­corded a Guard of Hon­our. Se­nior and ju­nior sailors, mak­ing a street line, bade farewell to Rear Ad­mi­ral Sarath­sena who was sent off mounted on a dec­o­rated ve­hi­cle amid cheers.

Rear Ad­mi­ral Ni­mal Sarath­sena joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1984 as an Of­fi­cer Cadet of the 12th in­take. He ren­dered yeo­man ser­vices to the Navy, hold­ing a num­ber of key ap­point­ments in­clud­ing Di­rec­tor Gen­eral Ser­vices, Com­man­der South­ern Naval Area, Di­rec­tor Naval Op­er­a­tions and Deputy Area Com­man­der - Eastern Naval Area.
