Navy bids fond farewell to Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena
Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena, who previously held office as Commander Eastern Naval Area, on April 12 bade farewell to his 34-year-long illustrious naval career.
Navy Commander Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe extended best wishes to the retiring officer before he was accorded a Guard of Honour. Senior and junior sailors, making a street line, bade farewell to Rear Admiral Sarathsena who was sent off mounted on a decorated vehicle amid cheers.
Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1984 as an Officer Cadet of the 12th intake. He rendered yeoman services to the Navy, holding a number of key appointments including Director General Services, Commander Southern Naval Area, Director Naval Operations and Deputy Area Commander - Eastern Naval Area.
