I don’t believe in Raja Yoga
UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa on Tuesday said he does not believe in Raja Yoga (favourable time as per the horoscope) to reach the pinnacle in politics but only intends to reach the top by fulfilling people’s aspirations.
Mr. Premadasa came up with this statement at a ceremony held to mark the 25th death anniversary of his father late President Ranasinghe Premadasa in Colombo Tuesday morning.
“Many people say many things about politics today. Some talk about me as well. Some talk about waiting for Raja Yoga to reach the pinnacle in politics. I do not believe in Raja Yoga to reach the pinnacle in politics but only intend to reach the top by fulfilling people’s aspirations,” Mr. Premadasa said. Mr. Premadasa said he is always ready to take one step forward or to take a step backward for the betterment of his party and the country. He said his sole intention is to safeguard the present government led by President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and to fulfil the aspirations of the people who gave a mandate to the present government. “A person’s political career depends on how he or she works towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people. If a person fails to fulfil the aspirations of the people his or her political career is short and if the expectations of the people are met effectively one’s political career will be longer,” he also said. “My late father did not allow the market forces to decide on the social issues and handled the foreign policy of the country in a way which benefits the rural people,” he further said. Mr. Premadasa said he is committed to implement these policies of his late father.
