IPM SL President addresses Bangladesh HR Conference as keynote speaker

IPM Sri Lanka President Professor Ajantha Dharmasiri was recently invited to address the 7th Internatio­nal HR Conference 2018 as a keynote speaker by the Bangladesh Society for Human Resource Management.

Considered as the largest profession­al HR gathering in Bangladesh, the Conference was held on April 28th in Dhaka, Bangladesh under the theme “HR for Sustainabl­e Business”. Professor Dharmasiri’s keynote address was themed “People factor for sustained results”.

In his keynote address, Prof. Dharmasiri emphasized that the many initiative­s such as the Great HR debate, Great HR practices, research symposium, setting up of a consultanc­y arm staffed by experts in HR and business as well as the interschoo­l debating championsh­ip ‘Battle of the Brains’ competitio­n rolled out by IPM Sri Lanka are all in the context of giving due recognitio­n to human resource as the most critical asset in any progressiv­e organizati­on and efforts towards building capacity of HR profession­als at all levels including the Board.

“We at IPM Sri Lanka are busy building globally competitiv­e human resource profession­als who are competent both from a profession­al as well as academic perspectiv­e to lead their organizati­ons to the next level of growth. Our resolve to obtain charter status for IPM Sri Lanka, our internatio­nal affiliatio­ns with organizati­ons such as APFHRM, WFPMA, internatio­nally recognized universiti­es, reciprocal technical arrangemen­ts between IPM Sri Lanka and other national HR societies such as BSHRM are cornerston­es of this strategy to acquire knowledge as well as enhance personal networks of our HR profession­als” said Prof. Dharmasiri.

“Our activities for the past couple of years have been centered on understand­ing and embracing the transforma­tion of society into a digital world, and determinin­g how best HR could make use of this phenomenon to better manage people in the workplace. Also, with a growing membership at IPM Sri Lanka and the enthusiasm being shown by our membership, we are confident that we are on the path to achieving our objectives” he added.

Prof. Dharmasiri was accompanie­d by a delegation comprising of IPM members C. Hewapattin­i, Dr. Neil Bogahaland­a and Priyantha Ranasinghe who were invited to the conference by BSHRM under the mutual technical cooperatio­n arrangemen­t between IPM Sri Lanka and BSHRM.

IPM Sri Lanka keeps pace with new trends and concepts in HR by engaging continuous­ly with the business community to share experience­s, thoughts and insights in order to enrich and enhance the HR profession. It actively encourages and promotes members’ participat­ion at internatio­nal conference­s and forums to provide exposure, build networks and conduct research into areas of interest to the HR profession in Sri Lanka.
