TRI-PARTY JOINT TU ACTION ON WEDNESDAY

He further said the alliance would seek stern action if the authoritie­s failed to address the issue further.

According to Mr. Stalin, SLEASPA had a membership of 2, 500 members while the country’s entire teachers’ population stood at around 241, 505 including 15, 000 school principals. ri Lanka Educationa­l Administra­tive Service Profession­al Associatio­n (SLEASPA), eight Teachers’ unions and three school principals’ unions will resort to a one- day- token strike on Wednesday (4) urging the authoritie­s to halt all appointmen­ts made under the recommenda­tions of the Political Victimizat­ion Committee.

In a letter sent to the Education Secretary, all alliances of the joint action had said although the trade union action was informed before two weeks, no action was taken by the authoritie­s.

Speaking to Daily Mirror, Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) General Secretary Joseph Stalin said all appointmen­ts in the education sector should be given only according to its service constituti­on.
