Hotel Show Colombo 2018 opening opportunities for industry employees

-

The announcement of the Hotel Show Colombo 2018 underscores the hospitality industry’s commitment to enriching its workforce and ensuring a strong and prosperous future for the industry. This annual event to be held from July 21 to 23 at the BMICH builds upon a legacy of opening opportunities for industry employees, such as the regional training programmes conducted prior to the event and underlines its continued commitment to providing employees with the pathways, training and resources they need to achieve their career goals.

Experts provided those present at a gathering with an exquisite demonstration, featuring coffee and tea making skills and room styling that impressed the audience. Following the demonstration, they were invited to experience it themselves. The event proved to be a great success and displayed Sri Lanka’s food culture and talent at its very best, helping to greatly promote the country’s hospitality culture. The Q&A sessions which followed allowed for lively conversation and helped to exchange various viewpoints. “The hospitality business is about taking care of people; both our guests and our workforce,” said Organising Committee Chairman Trevine Gomez. “We could not do what we do without a strong, talented workforce. Our industry exemplifies the hoteliers dream of fostering development, upward mobility, and exciting lifelong careers. Hotel Show’s 13th edition builds on a legacy of resources and training the hotel industry provides to our employees, and we are excited to provide openings for employees in the hotel industry and helping employers to attract and retain talent in the process. This is a win-win for all concerned.” Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Chairman Kavan Rathnayake said: “We are honoured to be a part of the Hotel Show, and we are committed to supporting the organisers of this event who share our passion and enthusiasm for this specialised industry.

Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality industry relies heavily on the consistent delivery of a quality product. We need a highly skilled workforce to achieve this and the additional flexibility to recruit suitably qualified personnel relies heavily on young school leavers taking up this challenging career to become the future leaders in the industry.”
