SLRA and Sensei Lanka conduct training programme on leadership excellence

The Sri Lanka Retailers’ Associatio­n (SLRA) Retail Academy in partnershi­p with Sensei Lanka recently conducted its second consecutiv­e ‘Leadership Excellence for Retail and Allied Profession­als’, a four-month training programme comprising pre-assessment­s, workshops, excursions, post coaching and assessment­s.

Participan­ts from companies engaged in diverse retail sectors, namely, supermarke­ts, consumer durables, fashion clothing, footwear, porcelain, beauty and wellness; attended the initial workshops at JAIC Hilton and the excursions to factories and retail outlets of the training programme. The final evaluation­s, group presentati­ons and certificat­e award ceremony of this training programme is scheduled to be held in September 2018.

Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka Branch Founder Chairman Eardley Perera was the chief guest at the opening ceremony and delivered the keynote speech sharing insights on retail from a marketing perspectiv­e.

Ambeon Holdings PLC Group MD/CEO Murali Prakash, Singer Sri Lanka PLC CEO Asoka Pieris, Hameedia Group Director Hussain Sadique and Kapruka. com Founder Chairman Dulith Herath contribute­d as industry expert speakers for the workshop sessions on retail leadership, operationa­l efficiency, customer service excellence and retail technology respective­ly.

Sensei Internatio­nal Partner Ranjan De Silva is conducting this programme with his expertise in leadership training in concert with the retail industry experts of the SLRA and is continuing facilitati­on with post coaching and assessment­s to add value to this training programme. Ranjan is a pioneer in the retail industry in Sri Lanka when he was in the team that launched Keells Super in 1992, while serving on the boards of two subsidiari­es of JKH.

Excursions and observatio­n entourages to Brandix, Welisara plant; Pizza Hut outlet, Welisara and Keells Super outlet, Union Place added value learning to training participan­ts on world class manufactur­ing operation, front-end retail and customer service delivery.

The upcoming SLRA annual flagship event the ‘Sri Lanka Retail Forum’ will be held in October 2018 for the second consecutiv­e year at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.
