Complast Sri Lanka 2018 expo to kick off on Aug. 10

Complast Sri Lanka 2018, the complete plastics exhibition in its fifth edition, together with its organisers, Smart Expos & Fairs India (Pvt.) Ltd and the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL), organised a regional launch session in Galle recently under the patronage of Galle District Secretary Somarathna Vidanapath­rana.

Over 50 CEOS from the plastics industry participat­ed in the event. In addition to Complast Sri Lanka 2018, COMEXPO 2018, the complete manufactur­ing expo, will be organised this year. This event is supported by the Industry and Commerce Ministry and co-organised by the Industrial Developmen­t Board of Sri Lanka (IDB).

The main business-to-businessfo­cused exhibition Complast Sri Lanka 2018, formerly known as Sri Lanka Plast, will be opened from Friday, August 10 to Sunday, August 12, 2018, at the BMICH Colombo.

Complast Sri Lanka is an internatio­nal trade fair for plastics. COMEXPO 2018 will be a one-source platform for all manufactur­ing needs, including sourcing and trading. These exhibition­s are knowledge-sharing platforms wherein the exhibitors from other countries like India, China, Taiwan, etc. will showcase their technology and machinery to the industry in Sri Lanka.

Visitors from the plastics industry of Sri Lanka can find in-depth and comprehens­ive informatio­n on the latest developmen­ts in machinery, material and technology in the field of plastics. The event will showcase over 150 exhibitors from 15 countries.

The highlight of this fifth edition is there will be close to more than 12 live demos of machinery showcased. There is also an increased participat­ion from the local companies as exhibitors. The exhibiting countries include Sri Lanka, India, China, Taiwan, the USA, Germany and others.

The display profiles include raw materials, polymers and resins, blends and alloys and intermedia­ries and composites, specialty chemicals, masterbatc­hes, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcem­ents, precision machinery, moulds and dies. The equipment include converting equipment-printing, decorating, slitting and rewinding, laminating, bag and pouch making, testing equipment, software solutions, recycling plants and training institutio­ns.

COMEXPO – the complete manufactur­ing expo, also showcases machine tools, logistics, electrical, etc. that will facilitate the manufactur­ing sector needs. In this expo, there is a major participat­ion from the Idbfacilit­ated companies, especially from the small and medium sector of Sri Lanka.

PRISL Vice President Kaushal Rajapaksa said, “Exhibition­s are the drivers of any industry. They play a catalytic role in the growth of the sector as they showcase the current developmen­t both in machines and materials related to the sector. They also facilitate the adoption of new and appropriat­e technologi­es at affordable cost. They accelerate the growth of the sector and thereby create new entreprene­urs and new employment opportunit­ies.”
