Asite Talwatte joins Chevron Lubricants Lanka board
Asite Talwatte has been appointed to the director board of Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC with effect from July 26, 2018 as an Independent Nonexecutive Director.
His appointment comes in the wake of resignation of Deva Rodrigo with effect from July 31, 2018.
Talwatte is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the U.K.
He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Business and Financial Administration awarded by CA Sri Lanka and the University of Wageningen, Holland and has a MBA from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura.
Talwatte worked at Earnst and Young in assurance, business risk and advisory services for 37 years, including 10 years as the Country Managing Partner. He has worked with E&Y in Cleveland, Ohio and also served on E&Y Far-east Area Executive Committee, the Area Advisory Council and the ASEAN Leadership Committee.
Talwatte was President of the CA Sri Lanka for a two year period in 2002/03 and CIMA in 1995/96. He also served as the Chairman of the Statutory Accounting Standards Committee and the Auditing Standards Committee, the Urgent Issues Task Forces and the Examinations Committee of the ICASL.
He has also been closely associated with the development of corporate governance in Sri Lanka being actively involved with the Code of Audit Committee in 2002 and the Code of Corporate Governance in 2003.
Talwatte currently chairs the International Integrated Reporting Council of Sri Lanka (IIRSL) on behalf of CA Sri Lanka.
He serves as an independent non-executive director on boards of several listed companies.
Of late several key changes took place at Chevron Lubricants Lanka top level marked by the sudden resignation of long-time MD/ CEO Kishu Gomes.
The company a couple of weeks back announced the appointment of Patrick Mccloud as the new MD/ CEO with effect from September 1, 2018.
The current Chevron Lubricants Lanka board consists of Rochna Kaul (Chairperson / Acting MD), A. Perera, T.H.KEE (non-executive director), Harsha Amarasekera and Asite Talwatte.
