MESSAGE FROM MINISTER OF HIGHER EDUCATION & CULTURAL AFFAIRS
It is with pleasure that I forward this message to EDEX Mid-year Expo 2018 supplement.
It is our aim to make Sri Lanka an international hub of excellence for higher education by 2020.
Exhibitions in the caliber of EDEX, create a platform for youth to converge, and find opportunities of excellence in higher education.
The Higher Education Ministry is happy to endorse EDEX, which is synonymous with offering the youth excellent educational opportunities, locally and overseas.
The Ministry also works closely with University Grants Commission (UGC). The Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) of the UGC, is an essential mechanism that assesses and accredit post graduate degrees conducted by the State-owned University System.
UGC also provides information relating to recognised foreign universities/higher education institutes to students pursuing higher educational opportunities abroad which is vital to secure employment.
The Ministry is also keen to ensure that the demand in the job market has value for local graduates by gearing them towards a job oriented education system, and providing them with effective communication skills and literacy in Information Technology.
I wish the organisers of the EDEX Mid-year Expo 2018 all the best in achieving its objective of promoting this exhibition to the youth and public at large.
