MCA ‘B’ Division commences today

The second Fair and Lovely Men –Mca‘b’division League Tournament 2019 will be even fairer and lovelier for the cricketers, as the tournament comes around on September 26, 2018. The tournament for the second time around will be conducted with all the parapherna­lia attached to an ODI with a few new frills attached to it by the sponsor Unilever Sri Lanka.

THE TEAMS

Out of the eight teams that have confirmed their participat­ion, three teams are new – Citizens Developmen­t Business Finance (CDB), Expolanka Group and HNB. The other five teams that are retained are – John Keells ‘B’, Unilever Ceylon, Kanrich Finance ‘B’, Singer Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Commercial Credit ‘B.

TOURNAMENT LOGISTICS

The Tournament will be conducted on a single league in two stages. The round robin, containing 28 matches commenced on September 22 and will go on till October 17, 2018. At the completion of the round robin stage, the four top teams in the points table will advance to the final round. The final round matches will be conducted according to the IPL system which contains four matches with the final being held on November 3, 2018.

THE OFFICIAL BALL

Same as the ball used for the MCA Premier League – the Grays of Cambridge (Pakistan) ‘Cavalier’ white ball, directly imported by MCA from Pakistan, supplied to the teams at cost.

THE PLAYERS CONTROL TEAM (PCT)

All 32 matches will be supervised by an MCA appointed Match Referee; the Official Umpires will be assigned by the Associatio­n of Cricket Umpires (ACU) and Official scorers, will be assigned by the Sri Lanka Scorers Associatio­n, who will also supply the D&L method.

FLASH BACK TO 2018

In the final played on October 14, 2017 at the MCA Grounds, MAS Silueta lifted the brand new Fair and Lovely Men’s Trophy, beating DHT Cement by five wickets; since then MAS Silueta has advanced to the MCA Premier League and DHT Cement is not participat­ing this time. The sponsorshi­p handing over ceremony cum Media Conference was held on September 19 at the MCA.
