TIPS ON BECOMING A CHAMPION!

- BY MAYURI JAYASINGHE

The first and only tip is EAT BREAKFAST! Breakfast, the first meal of the day is a much overlooked affair. Stressed for time, many a household opts to grab a quick something rather than sit down for a few minutes and have a wholesome meal. But the reality is that breakfast is the first step to enabling our children be the best that they can be. A child would have spent the last right to ten hours in restful sleep, during that time he or she is devoid of any nutrients. Therefore if they were to wake and start the day without any nutrients of any sort, then they deprive the body of the much needed energy needed to kick-start their essential processes. From giving them nutritional energy to kickstart their growth to fire up those brain cells, a well balanced breakfast would provide a school going child of the essentials to achieve the best of the day.

Breakfast need not be a complicated affair. You simply have to get your portions of protein to carbohydrates to good fats correct and you've got yourself a breakfast for champions. A simple eggs with toast, fruit with yoghurt, oatmeal with a delicious fruit compote, vegetable noodles or chickpeas with some shredded chicken and vegetables, are great boost to help the busy school going child to start the day. Our children have full days, some have sports in the mornings, followed by intense lessons, only to finish the day with after school activities and lessons. The well balanced energy filled breakfast will give your child the necessary boost to meet the day with promise.

You want your kids to eat breakfast and enjoy it too! Here are a few yummy recipes to tempt even the staunch non breakfast eater!
