The 15th death anniversary of multitalented star Wally Nanayakkara falls on October 11.The Nikaweratiya-born actor who was educated at St. Anne’s, Kurunegala became an overnight star with his performance in ‘Sarawita’. Among the other films in which he played memorable roles were Pick Pocket, Baduth Ekka Horu, Bicycle Hora, Senehasa, Poojithayo, Sikuru Dasawa, Mathara Achchi, Wasthuwa, Muwan Pelessa and others.as a radio artiste he was a popular figure following his character as Ukku Banda in Muwan Pelessa.wally married his Radio Ceylon colleague Nethali Nanayakkara who is also a talented actress. He passed away on October 11, 2003.
