AGNES SIRISENA
The 24th death anniversary of veteran actress and radio artiste Agnes Sirisena falls on October 19. 1928-born Agnes Sirisena who married her Radio Ceylon colleague Ananda Sirisena, entered Radio Ceylon in 1948 and served it in various capacities until her retirement. Agnes Sirisena made her film debut in Kinglsey Rajapakse’s ‘Hithata Hitha’ and followed it up with popular films including Adarayai Karunawai, Sikuru Liya, Duhulu Malak, Sasaraka Pethum, Wajira, Mangala Thegga, Sujatha and others. She first acted in the ‘Erabadu Mal’ tele drama and later played pivotal roles in tele serials like Tharadevi, Sihina Nimnaya, Pata Sarungal, Sura Asura and several others. Her son Kamal Deshapriya is also a talented actor and well known sports commentator.
