VIJITHA MALLIKA
The 26th death anniversary of popular yester-year actress Vijitha Mallika who dazzled the silver screen in the sixties, falls tomorrow, October 16. Born in Negombo on July 5, 1943, she joined films as a schoolgirl playing a role in Sooraya. Later, she played lead roles in films like Suwineetha Lalani, Sengawuna Menika, Sengawuna Sewanella, Rena Giraw, London Hamu, Dheewarayo, Handapana, Sweep Ticket and other popular movies. In 1967, she produced Suli Sulang together with her husband Anthony Fernando. She died on October 16, 1992 at the age of 49.
