-

Isee you weary parent. I see what beguiles you, but eludes you at the same time. I see what your mind, body and heart craves, but the universe deprives you each time. You just want your baby to nap, but your baby has other ideas. YOU just want 30 minutes to maybe brush you hair, have a shower, eat a cookie, make a phone call, watch netflix.. whatever your heart rejoices you, but your puppet-master, the two foot commander says “Not today mummy, no nap today”! Now before you go screaming off into the sunset, get hold of yourself, and listen up wisely, I have have some solutions for you.

The reason why your child doesn't nap is your fault! What you say! Children need and crave routines. You MUST get them on the straight and narrow from the very start. If that doesn't motivate you, remember that small children need as much sleep as they can get, it is during this time, that they are busy doing all the growing and other necessary requirements for them to be healthy babies. Some might argue that if they nap during the day, then they won't necessarily nap at night.

This isn't necessarily so especially in the case of small babies. In-fact research in the past has shown that over tired babies take longer to settle at night, they work themselves up to such a frenzy with their over tiredness that bedtime will be a screaming crying affair both for you and your baby. Lastly one nap is all you need, and you know it. One nap to reboot the system and get back to being the best mummy you can be. So here are some tried and tested methods of ensuring napping success in the years to come.
