CII appoints Senaratne’s as ‘Corporate Chartered Insurance Broker’
Senaratne’s recently marked another niche in the insurance landscape, as the oldest insurance broker, carving out thirty nine years of professional excellence and integrity, leading to their appointment as a ‘Corporate Chartered Insurance Broker’, the first in South Asia to be honoured by the CII, under the powers vested in them by the Privy Council, surely, yet another signal, as to Sri Lanka’s ability to compete with world class equals.
In fact, Chairman Nihal Senaratne, as far as twenty years ago had said that the International Head of ‘Glaxo’ in-charge of insurances Richard Reddaway based in the UK had told Senaratne’s were better than any international insurance broker they had dealt with. This anniversary was celebrated not with wine and song but, more in an altruistic style in that they hosted a high tea and enjoyed fellowship with the elders of St. Margaret’s Convent and the children of St. Johns Home Kollupitiya. That evening was shared by several other members of the insurance industry and a special tea consisting of cakes and an abundance of short eats, some even lovingly home made by members of the staff of Senaratne’s as well as, gifts for the inmates were thoroughly enjoyed by all participants numbering over hundred persons from the insurance industry, including a few CEOS, ended with good cheer coupled with a thanksgiving prayer by Sister Chandrani Peiris (Sister Superior)
