Strathspey Estate celebrates World Children’s Day and Elder’s Day
World Children’s and Elder’s Day was celebrated by Strathspey Estate, Upcot, Maskeliya region, owned by Richard Pieris Group of Companies and managed by Maskeliya Plantations PLC.
At the highly anticipated occasion, many events took place for children as well as elders who had participated. The celebrations included events such as a singing competition, drama competition, speech competition, musical chairs and much more.
This is an another corporate social responsibility initiative conducted by the management of Strathspey Estate, Upcot, and the sixth consecutive year for celebrating this uniquely memorable event, with the participation of a large gathering.
The estate population including executives, health and welfare staff, workers, development officer attached to the divisional secretariats office, Ginigathena, Grama Niladharie, school teachers, children of all eight child development centres, officials from Save the Children, officials from ADRA and HDO (NGO), police officers from Maskeliya Police Station, officials from People’s Bank, Maskeliya well wishers, and more.
There were very many gifts and presents given to children and elders, and there was a health camp for elders, where medicine/vitamins were provided. The programme concluded with giving them well balance nutrient a diet.
