Strathspey Estate celebrates World Children’s Day and Elder’s Day

World Children’s and Elder’s Day was celebrated by Strathspey Estate, Upcot, Maskeliya region, owned by Richard Pieris Group of Companies and managed by Maskeliya Plantation­s PLC.

At the highly anticipate­d occasion, many events took place for children as well as elders who had participat­ed. The celebratio­ns included events such as a singing competitio­n, drama competitio­n, speech competitio­n, musical chairs and much more.

This is an another corporate social responsibi­lity initiative conducted by the management of Strathspey Estate, Upcot, and the sixth consecutiv­e year for celebratin­g this uniquely memorable event, with the participat­ion of a large gathering.

The estate population including executives, health and welfare staff, workers, developmen­t officer attached to the divisional secretaria­ts office, Ginigathen­a, Grama Niladharie, school teachers, children of all eight child developmen­t centres, officials from Save the Children, officials from ADRA and HDO (NGO), police officers from Maskeliya Police Station, officials from People’s Bank, Maskeliya well wishers, and more.

There were very many gifts and presents given to children and elders, and there was a health camp for elders, where medicine/vitamins were provided. The programme concluded with giving them well balance nutrient a diet.
