Trinity win Golden Star award in Group B

Trinity College Kandy won the Golden Star Award for the fourth consecutiv­e year at the 18th Sri Lanka Schools Junior Hockey Carnival 2018 (Under-14 age category) which concluded at the Vincent Dias Stadium in Badulla on October 31.

Competing in Group ‘B’ (boys) Trinity College remained unbeaten with four wins in their group fixtures: Trinity College beat Hindu College Matale: 1-0

Trinity College beat St. Benedict’s College, Colombo H. Fernando 1): 2-1

Trinity College beat S. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia: 3-0 Trinity College beat Uva College, Badulla: 1-0 40 boys teams across the island were divided in to eight groups and competed in the three-day junior hockey carnival conducted by the SLSHA. The three top teams in each group were awarded gold , silver and bronze medals.

Trinity College was coached by M.A.M. Ashrof.

ZAHIRA MATALE WIN GOLDEN STAR IN GROUP D

Competing in Group ‘D’ (boys) Zahira College, Matale led by Fizal Muzain remained unbeaten with three comprehens­ive wins in their group fixtures to clinch the Golden Star Award for the fourth consecutiv­e year at the 18th Sri Lanka Schools Junior Hockey Carnival 2018 (Under-14 age category).

Their road to victory was as follows:

Zahira College, Matale beat Mahinda College, Galle: 1-0

Zahira College, Matale beat Dharmaraja College, Kandy: 2-0

Zahira College beat St. Thomas’ College, Matara: 2-0

Zahira were coached by J.M. Rifas.
