Girivasipura - Movie on King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe unveils

Girivasipura, a new movie which is an epic of the Kandyan Kingdom and its last King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe will hit the cinema theaters soon.

The movie directed by Devinda Kongahage portrays King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe as a man who was aware of the realities of life. He is projected as a slave of his own aristocrats and one who became a common man again.

Accordingly, the story line is different to the common tale associated with the king who was accused of harassing the Eheleyapola family.

The Director has brought both Sinhalese and Tamil actors together in this endeavor.

The cast include Mahendra Perera, Pubudu Chathuranga, Niranjala Shanmugaraja, Roshan Pilapitiya, Daya Tennekone, Juliana John Philip and Nawayuga Raj Kumar. The film to feature a Buddhist monk, Bibiladeniye Mahanama as the music director, and it will be the first time where a Buddhist monk had directed music in a movie. It is also the first time that a Tamil song is included in a Sinhala movie.
