Having emerged in the late 90s in an era of no whipping, no nae-naeing and no twerking, TNL Onstage is the oldest running music competition in Sri Lanka. Performers such as Stigmata, Billy Fernando and Iraj find their roots at Onstage which has become an icon of individuality and authenticity with regard to musical shows in the country. It has shown us over the years that nothing beats the live reverberations of a guitar strum, smooth drum solo and uninhibited vocals, holding you captive for a solid few seconds, proud of the raw talent your country possesses. In an effort to highlight lesser known artistes and properly showcase the variety of sound the music industry of Sri Lanka has to offer, Onstage supports a range of genres and subgenres.

The 17th Season of TNL Onstage is currently underway, culminating in the Festival on the 10th of November. The Festival
This will be the Grand Finale of the season, the icing on the cake, if you will. Scheduled to begin at four in the afternoon, you can already tell this is not the average late evening show you are accustomed to, and you are perfectly right for assuming this. Onstage has always been the front-runner of local music competitions, a paragon of creativity and futuristic thinking. This year, TNL will take it to new heights by putting a completely different spin on your run-of-themill competition, and we hope that in seasons to come it will develop into a more large scale music festival, drawing inspiration from the likes of Coachella and Tomorrowland. To kick-start this impressive initiative, the Festival will be headlined by the established} talent of

The Festival is a multi-stage event, featuring two stages, namely ‘The Green’ and ‘Block 17’, showcasing the solo and band finalists respectively. If amidst the festival chaos you find yourself in need of some familiar comfort food, Onstage has that part covered too, with ample food stalls and activities to complement the top tier music acts.
