PRESIDENT HAD NO OPTION LEFT: BANDULA

International Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardane yesterday justified the dissolution of Parliament saying it was the only option left for the President to avert the country from sliding towards anarchy.

Commenting on the dissolution of the House, he said sacked Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe refused to leave Temple Trees and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya started acting in a partisan manner even challenging the President’s order.

Therefore, he said the President only had to dissolve Parliament for the parties concerned to go before the people.
